There is no shortage of ignorance, to be sure, but it's not only on the right--it's everywhere. In fact, Free Republic readers are better informed about economics than the average Joe Blow. This collapse has been talked about there for two or three years. Or have I misconstrued your comment?
No, there's plenty of ignorance to go around. But many FR readers seem to marry their ignorance with a peculiar mix of partisanship and conspiracy theorizing.
Agreed. FR is in decline, surely, but we need to distinguish between readers and posters. The more anxious people become, the more they take to their keyboards. Too much heat, there, and not enough light. I treat it like a blog that gathers news from some unlikely places. Too, it has become a reading habit that is hard to break
