Campbell came along when Nashville was way too slick and too heavily orchestrated. (I blame Chet Atkins.) Yet the power of Glen's singing and those great Webb songs was undeniable. When I was in England in the late 1970s, "Rhinestone Cowboy" played ceaselessly on the radio.
