Country Music Association Awards

I read today that with his win last night, Kenny Chesney tied Garth Brooks for the most wins as CMA entertainer of the year.

Think about that. The most honored performer in the group's 42-year history is not Loretta Lynn, George Jones, Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, Buck Owens, Hank Williams Jr., Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson or Tammy Wynette.

It's not even Conway Twitty, John Denver, George Strait or Olivia Newton-John.

It's Garth and Kenny.

Why don't they just change the name of the awards.

And does Brad Paisley play the same guitar solo in every song?

i'm not that big of a Brad Paisley fan but the guitar solo you brought up is a throwback to classic country, which I prefer listening to. In older country music most artists had a "sound" that identified with a listener. Johnny Cash had a guitar identity that some have said sounds like 'boom-chicka-boom', you can hear it on a lot of Johnny's records. Conway Twitty had John Hughey playing steel guitar on his 1960's and 1970's hits and most singles had a steel guitar solo that was identified with Conway's "sound". George Jones used pedal steel guitars mostly and that moaning sound of the pedal steel helped shape George's sound. Buck Owens telecaster guitar would often pop up without notice in a lot of his records. So, Brad is basically bringing back the concept of artist's having a "sound" so that when you hear the guitar you can tell it's Brad before he starts to sing.
